Program
The Kansas Bankers Association Internship Connection Program connects in-state college students with a KBA member bank for a paid summer internship in banking. During a summer internship, interns will receive many hands-on learning opportunities and work-related experiences to learn about community banking and the industry.
APPLICATION & CONNECTION PROCESS
Students and KBA-member banks and trust companies can sign up for the program through the Internship Connection Program webpage on the KBA website. Students can apply for internships between September 14, 2026, and April 30, 2027.
Students are matched with participating banks and trust companies based on their available summer housing locations, whether in their hometown, college community, or with a friend or family member.
After applying, students will receive contact information for participating institutions offering internship opportunities in their selected housing areas. Students may then contact the institutions where they would like to pursue internship opportunities. After providing contact information, the KBA will not participate in interviews, hiring decisions, onboarding, compensation discussions, or other employment arrangements between students and participating institutions.
All internships will be paid at a minimum of $15/hour. Participating institutions are responsible for determining internship responsibilities, schedules, start and end dates, and compensation.

Students are encouraged to review the list of participating institutions before applying. Applicants must identify the Kansas counties where they are interested in completing an internship. Please note that internship opportunities in some locations may be more competitive than others.

- All students who secure an internship through the program will receive one complimentary registration to a KBA conference. These events provide students with opportunities to network with banking professionals from institutions across Kansas and gain exposure to specialized areas of the industry. Although they are responsible for their travel expenses, they are encouraged to ask their host institution whether travel assistance is available. Students can attend one of the conferences below with free registration:

Frequently Asked Questions
The program is open to full-time students enrolled in an accredited Kansas junior college, college, or university. Students of all majors are encouraged to apply, and there are no GPA or class-standing requirements.
Student applications open on September 14, 2026, and will close on April 30, 2027. Banks and trust companies may join the program at any time; however, enrollment during the fall provides the greatest visibility to students seeking summer internships.
There are no fees for KBA member banks. KBA non-member banks are not allowed to participate.
No. Participation in the program does not obligate a bank or trust company to hire a student. Institutions may hire any candidate they determine is the best fit, including applicants outside the Internship Connection Program.
KBA staff promote the program through meetings with college faculty and staff, participation in collegiate career fairs, and outreach to students throughout the academic year.
No; however, banks have no restrictions on hiring their intern for a full-time position after their internship. The KBA Job Board is also a free resource for banks and students to find full-time positions.
